Former Pension Director to Return N22.9bn, Spend Jail Term

The recent-past federal Director of Pension, Mr. John Yakubu Yusuf, has been ordered by the Supreme Court in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, to forfeit the misappropriated N22.9 billion.

Also, the Yakubu Yusuf will be spending time in prison for the charges leveled against him in the court yesterday over his inability to account for the missing police fund.

Aside from returning the fund, Justice Tijjani Abubakar, in his judgment, in an appeal filed by Yusuf, upheld the decision of the Court of Appeal, which in 2018, sentenced him to six years’ jail time in addition to the aforementioned order.

Court Spells out Terms for Refunding Police Pension

It was gathered that the SupremeCourt held that Yusuf, and others, engaging in fraudulent practices, must be told in clear language through rulings that “it is no longer business as usual.”

The judge said the appeal which is seeking to set aside the jail term was frivolous, vexatious, and devoid of merit.
