British-Nigerian actor, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje made a leap in his career with a directorial debut last year. It was a semi-autobiographical movie, Farming, and had its world premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival. Only recently have we gotten a trailer.
Farming is loosely based on the actor’s life. It chronicles the life of Enitan (Damson Idris), a young Nigerian boy who is sent to the UK by his parents in the hopes of giving him a better life, but instead becomes the leader of a white skinhead gang.
Similar to the clip released a year ago, the trailer is gripping and scathingly honest about the realities of a young black child growing up in a majorly white neighborhood. It is equal parts painful and heartbreaking. Gangsterism and racism are issues addressed in the film.
Alongside Idris, who appears to be giving a stellar performance, the cast also includes Kate Beckinsale, John Dagleish, Jaime Winstone, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Genevieve Nnaji and Akinnuoye-Agbaje himself. Farming is set to hit theaters in October.
