On Thursday, Feb 28th, 2019, Facebook announced that it’s releasing a new feature globally that lets users share events in Facebook Stories. This new feature will take the format of normal stories. Users can post photos and videos that vanish in 24 hours. This is coming after Facebook announced in January that it was testing the events feature in US, Mexico and Brazil.
Then again, the release of the new feature is yet another example of how Facebook is ramping up its efforts around Stories. Even so, Snapchat invented the stories feature, but Facebook is trying to style it for its platform.
To share an event in Stories is actually very easy. Users go to an event page and there is a Share option below the date and time. Also, once your event story is up, friends can show if they are “Interested” or not. From there, they can send a group message to friends who expressed interest in the event.
More importantly, Facebook announced that it’s releasing new frames and stickers for the International Women’s Day on March 8. In a statement, the company stated that:
“We hope these features will help people share the women’s events that matter most to them, build excitement, and rally friends to support and celebrate the contributions that women around the world make to their communities every day.”
