English Premier League EPL rule out April 4th Resumption date and set a date. With coronavirus looking not completely combated, both EPL, EFL, Women’s Super League and Women’s Championship are under suspension. This suspension spread across Great Britain as Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, have all postponed their leagues.
The English Premier league has come to the conclusion that the current league could be extended indefinitely. This is in response to the questions that should the league be terminated who will gain and who loses out. According to the EPL calendar, the league was scheduled to end on the 1st of June 2020.
EFL and EPL Rule out April 4th Resumption Date after meeting
But, with the current situation on ground the league cannot end by that time, the EPL league has just nine games left with Liverpool topping with 15points. The league management yesterday held a meeting and concluded that the resumption date will no longer be 4th as put initially. EPL rule out April 4th resumption date and set the 30th of April as the new date.
Before EPL rule out April 4th resumption date, various clubs were training based on program given to them by the clubs. Arsenal is set to resume on Tuesday while some other clubs still have not given date for resumption of training. Under current rules, the season had been scheduled to end on 1 June.
A joint statement issued by the FA, Premier League, and EFL expressed “a commitment to finding ways of resuming the 2019-20 season” and completing all domestic and European matches “as soon as it is safe and possible to do so”. However, the Euro2020 still remains counselled until 2021
