A lawmaker in the Enugu State House of Assembly has died in the state after falling ill.
The house of assembly member, Chijioke Ugwueze aged 49 was until his death, the member representing Isi-Uzo constituency in Enugu state house of assembly, he was also house committee on transport chairman.
The death was confirmed to reporters by his brother, Ejike Ugwueze who said that Chijioke Ugwueze was hypertensive and complained of malaria on Friday morning and was rushed to a private hospital in Enugu state and then transferred to the Enugu state teaching hospital where he died of heart failure in the evening of the same Friday.
Ejike said of his brother’s death, “His death was so painful and a great shock to the family. He has created a big vacuum that only God can fill. He is our breadwinner. We, the family members, are confused on where to start from because my brother died when we are still planning on how to bury our father, who is still in the mortuary and now Chijioke has joined him.”
The death of the Enugu state house of assembly member was described as a great loss to the seventh assembly in the state by his colleague, Hillary Ugwu who is the representative of Enugu east rural constituency.
