A serious commotion occurred in the Imo state #End Sars Protest as DPO of the Orji Police Station, Obioma O. Obi punched a protester in the face and pulled out a loaded gun on them.
Citizens in different states of the country have staged protests to condemn the actions of SARS and push for an end to police brutality. The protests in Abuja, Lagos and Edo have been peaceful so far but the same cannot be said for that of Owerri as the DPO was caught on video physical assaulting a peaceful protester. After he punched the young man, he asked,
“Sir, why would you punch me? Do you see the problem?”.
The other protesters started asking why the police officer would do that when they meant no harm and in a bid to shut them up, he angrily pulled a loaded gun at them and the protesters went wild, shouting at him and saying “shoot us, Oga shoot us”
Reacting to this video, the Police Complaint Response Unit of the force confirmed that the case had been handed to the appropriate authorities for further investigations.
