Ekiti State Schools
Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, announced that the state government plans to reopen schools for graduating classes in Ekiti as from the 20th of June, 2020.
This announcement was made after a briefing on Monday, June 29 by Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 giving the go ahead for graduating students to resume school.
In a statewide broadcast on Tuesday evening , Governor Fayemi said that in order to help Ekiti state contain and reduce community spread, the state will embark on random Coronavirus tests in communities. In his words,
“Our random community testing is starting with Ikere Ekiti Council on July 1, 2020 and moving from council to council,”
And on the reopening of schools particularly he said,
“Efforts are now in top gear to ensure our children return to school from July 20, 2020 as recommended by the interface between the Ministry of Education and all stakeholders in the education sector.”
Fayemi added that this resumption of schools will be a step-by-step process as the state will start with pupils and students in graduating classes first to enable them prepare for their promotional examination before gradually including other classes but that will be only after schools meet the necessary safety requirements.
