Chelsea and Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has come out to complain about how media outlets have taken his picture mistakenly or intentionally in place of France international Benjamin Mendy. The goalkeeper is complaining bitterly as his picture is being used for the rap cases levelled against Manchester City’s Benjamin Mendy.
Edouard Mendy Mad at Media Outlet Mistaking him for Benjamin Mendy
Manchester City and France full-back Benjamin Mendy has been charged with six counts of rape and one of sexual assault and remains in custody. But instead of those media outlets using the defender’s picture, they are using his (Edouard Mendy). He said their use was “highly symbolic”. He also said: “Sad to see that in 2021, in France as well as in England, for some, black people have neither names nor distinct faces.”
The Senegal international made this known on Instagram, and he did not end his statement there. He went on to say the mistake of photos is anecdotal, but actually, they are quite the opposite. They are highly symbolic. Even if the faces are alike, what about their club jerseys and club names? Are they also the same?
Edouard Mendy of Chelsea has not taken any legal charges against those media houses, which could be why they are still doing such acts.
