The Nigerian Female Basketball team popularly known as D’Tigress booked their place in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifies yesterday. They played against host Serbia and lost 64 to 70. But despite the loss they still managed to book their place in the 2020 Olympics which is coming this june in Tokyo Japan.
The qualifying tournament which has been going on for some time now had Nigeria who has not qualified for the tournament since 2004. D’Tigress alongside the male team has finally booked their place after a successful qualifying campaign.

D’Tigress who has been doing excellently well in Africa has gain the chance to take their skills to a higher and larger audience. They have been back-to-back FIBA Women’s AfroBasket champions and we do believe they can really contend with world.
Nigeria’s D’Tigress and Mozambique were the African Basketball teams conternding for the spot, Nigeria luckily qualified on points. Both Nigeria and Mozambique all lost their matches respectively, while Nigeria loses 64 to 70 against Serbia, Mozambique lost to USA 49 to 124 points.
Nigeria set a new Record in Africa, they are the first Basketball team to have both male female team to qualify to the Olympics. Both the D’Tigers and D’Tigress have qualified for Japan 2020 Olympics. The Olympic Games are still being talked about if it will hold or not based on the coronavirus in the Asian part of the world.
The virus has already entered some parts of the Japan and the games will likely not hold until the virus is completely eradicated from the area. Nigerians will looking to see their very own champions in the Olympics as Nigeria football team failed to Federation set another enviable record of being the only federation in Nigeria to have two teams at the Olympics.
