Diego Simeone Confirms to Have Coronavirus
Argentine and Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has tested positive for coronavirus. The former Argentina midfielder who is 50-year-old has no symptoms but he is currently at home observing the self-isolating protocol. Recently three players from the Atletico Madrid squad tested positive to the virus the manager is the most recent to have the virus in the club.
Atletico Madrid will not be playing the Spanish with other La Liga teams as they were deeply involved in last season’s UEFA Champions League, so Simeone’s men, Barcelona and Real Madrid will all resume late into the league. Atletico Madrid will be resuming theirs on Friday and Diego Simeone tested positive afater subsequent testing.
The club are not involved in La Liga’s opening fixtures this weekend and are due to start their season against Granada on 27 September. Cases of coronavirus are rising in Spain with 12,183 positive tests being recorded in the last 24 hours, along with 48 deaths.
