The truth about Davido’s Thirty Billion Gang, 30BG, has just been revealed by the Nigerian Afro-Pop Star himself.
In a recent interview posted on the offficialHipTV Instagram channel, the globally known artiste narrated the story behind coining the name- Thirty Billion Gang.
While speaking, Davido recalled how in 2016, when he signed the first record deal with SONY, which he described as one of the first international Afrobeats deals a Nigerian ever attained.
Upon this achievement, he remembered they went to quilox and about 4 other clubs to celebrate the breakthrough when the time clocked 4:00 am, and they decided to hit the studio for a recording session.
“We just left and we did ‘IF’. I don’t know why it was the thirty-zero, till today, there’s no reason…
“But after we recorded that song, we went out and my guys were just lit and said it’s 30BG,” that their group would be called henceforth, “That’s how the name came about…” He added.
