Darren Fletcher Bags Coaching Role with Manchester United
Former Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has linked up with former teammate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to help in the team. Fletcher spent 20 years with Manchester United and played alongside Michael Carrick and Ole.
Darren Fletcher started his career with Manchester United at every tender age. He was in Manchester United academy, he rose from the academy to make it to the main team. Fletcher captained Scotland during his playing time.
Darren Fletcher left Manchester United in 2015 and joined West Brom but made a return to coach the under-16 years after his retirement from active football. He was previously linked with a role in United’s board, but he said he would rather take a coaching role with the first team.
Manchester United Solskjaer expressed his joy for the return of the player as he hailed Fletcher’s experience in football, asserting it will come in handy in his new position. He won several English Premier League titles and one Uefa Champions League title with the club before he left to West Brom.
The retired midfielder will now join Mike Phelan and Michael Carrick who are also ex-United players in forming part of Ole’s technical bench. His arrival comes at a time the Old Trafford dwellers are enjoying an impressive run.
Manchester United sits in the second place position but level on points with defending champions Liverpool who loss 1-0 to Southampton yesterday. United will go top if they win their next English Premier League game against Burnley.
