Lagos State private laboratory shut down for unauthorised Covid-19 testing.
A private laboratory in the Ikoyi Area of Lagos had been shut down by The Lagos State Government for carrying out COVID-19 test without approval.
It was reported that the laboratory named Acouns Medical Laboratory and Diagnostic Centre situated in Banana Island was running tests on residents for coronavirus.
The Lagos State Ministry of Health had earlier approved seven private laboratories for covid-19 testing but Acouns Medical Laboratory ans Diagnostic Centre was not a part of them.
The state’s Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency closed the outlet on Friday July 10. In a statement they said,
“Members of the public are encouraged to cooperate fully with the Lagos State Government to ensure the safety and health of all even as we strive to contain the spread of Covid-19 in Lagos.”
They also promised to continue working to ensure that all health facilities in Lagos State adhere to the safety protocols given to guarantee utmost safety and helath of Lagosians
