Popular South African rapper, Kiernan Jarryd, also known as AKA has tested positive for Coronavirus, COVID-19.
The rapper, who disclosed this on his official Twitter handle on Friday explained that he decided to make his result public to raise awareness about the Coronavirus outbreak.
According to a press statement made available by his management, the rapper decided to make his results public to create awareness about the virus and caution citizen to be more careful in their daily interactions with others.
He urged everyone to adhere to social distancing guidelines, wear masks and to hold stringent hygiene measures by frequently sanitizing and washing our hands.
AKA Tests Positive For COVID-19
Meanwhile, AKA vowed to share his recovery journey while in self-isolation to help others as he advised his fans to immediately go for a check-up once they start to develop Coronavirus symptoms.
While responding to a fan who tweeted that celebrities were used to spread the propaganda about the virus, the rapper said the problem with many people is that they think celebrities are immune to the virus.
He further stated that he was looking forward to de-stigmatizing this whole thing.
The tweet reads “It seems like people only sit up and pay attention when it happens to public figures or those close to them. Unfortunately at some point, we are ALL going to catch it.”
AKA gained prominence after releasing a song titled Victory Lap from his debut album in 2011.
