Social Democratic Party, SDP Gubernatorial Candidate, Segun Oni, lately survived an attempt made on his life around the Efon Alaaye route in Efon Local Government Area, LGA of Ekiti Stata.
It was learned that his convoy was reportedly attacked while the governorship hopeful was amidst some supporters when suddenly thugs appeared from nowhere to take advantage of the familiarization process.
According to the report, the said thugs are suspected to be loyal to a political party in the state that doesn’t want Oni to emerge victorious in his political ambition to be governor.
SDP Official Narrates Ordeal
According to a press statement issued by the Director of Media and Publicity of Segun Oni Campaign Organisation, SOCO, Jackson Adebayo, said the attack occurred around 3:30 pm on Wednesday.
Reiterating how the attack occurred, Adebayo said shortly after the members and supporters of the Social Development Party candidate had converged to receive him, the thugs started shooting and attacking them with sticks and cutlasses.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti Command, ASP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the attack when he was contacted to give insights into the matter.
