Following the request made by Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel that the club should let Romelu Lukaku leave, there has been a lot of noise around the last few days regarding the player to sign as the Belgian replacement in the club.
It has not been clear who they want as the replacement but they are willing to let the former Manchester United and Inter Milan player leave to let other players come. The club owner had earlier stated that he will not spend money on signing players line the former owner due to the financial fair play rule.
Chelsea set to sign Jules Kounde
The club is looking at signing Seville and France defender Jules Kunde even though Barcelona is closing in on the player. They have been trying to sign the player for a year now the last time the player could not agree to a fee was last summer. Lots of Catalan reports started claiming that Barcelona was advancing for Kunde in the last couple of days, but it appears that Chelsea is still on course to sign him.
A couple of UK media outlets have reported Chelsea is still confident today. But perhaps one of the most interesting reports from today was from local Sevilla media, ABC Sevilla, as cited by Sport Witness.
They claim that Jules Koundé has ‘already agreed on a five-year deal with Chelsea, which includes a salary that would be two or three times more than what Barcelona can currently offer. Sevilla is still waiting for Chelsea to match their €60-65m [£52m-£56m] valuation.
