The police spokesman for Northern Faryab province in Afghanistan, Abdul Karim Yurash has confirmed that a bomb blast killed the Taliban’s shadow governor in the province, Mawlawi Wakil Ahmad, and seven other militants.
Yurash, who confirmed the incident without giving further details noted that three others were also wounded in Dawlat Abad district.
However, Taliban militants who are active in parts of the Faryab province have yet to make comments on the report.
Bomb Blast Kills Governor
In a related development, four members of a militant group, including their commander, were killed in a clash against the Taliban in Bati Kot district.
Meanwhile, despite the current peace efforts being held in Doha, Qatar, to resolve the prolonged conflict bedeviling the country, Afghanistan has been embroiled in heightened terrorist killings.
