Benjamin Mendy Refused Bail Again
27-year-old Benjamin Mendy was not at Chester Crown Court for the hearing as he is being held on remand at HMP Altcourse, in England, Liverpool. He is yet to enter pleas to the charges of four counts of rape and one of sexual assault.
The defendant was charged on 26 August with three counts of rape relating to an alleged incident in October 2020 and with the sexual assault of a woman in early January this year. He is also charged with raping a woman in August.
The France international has been in custody for the past seven weeks now and a trial date has been set for 24 January. His Premier League side Manchester City has said they had stepped aside for justice to take it full course and they suspend the player for the main time.
