Atletico Madrid go Four Points Clear in La Liga
Spanish La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid have stretched their advantage at the top of La Liga to four points after beating Sevilla 2:0. Diego Simeone’s men look pretty good and ready to lift the 2020/21 La Liga trophy.
Atletico Madrid took the lead when Angel Correa fired in after receiving a pass from former Tottenham player Kieran Trippier back in the team after his 10-week ban for breaching betting laws was suspended.
Saul Niguez doubled the lead to ensure Atletico Madrid in the game’s 76th minute with a thumping effort. Sevilla suffered their first defeat in 10 games in all competitions, the defeats now push them to the sixth place position in the table.
Atletico now has 41 points from 16 games and are four points above defending champions Real Madrid who are in the second-place position. Sevilla produced an excellent performance, but the host was very prepared for them.
Jan Oblak made some quality saves which should be noted. Atletico made the most of their chances, with former Barcelona striker Luis Suarez came close to scoring but was denied by Sevilla keeper Bono’s brilliance.
