The National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi has disclosed that the union is ready for the renegotiation of the agreement it reached with the Federal Government in 2009.
Speaking on the agreement, Ogunyemi noted that the union would want to see which area of the agreement the government would want to be expunged.
According to him, the union is not against negotiation and sitting down with other stakeholders to consider the way forward.

He listed the union’s request to include the need to upgrade the facilities in government-owned universities, payment of allowances, revitalization of the university system, and putting an end to the proliferation of universities by state governments.
Ogunyemi while speaking on the current strike embarked upon by the union revealed that ASUU was still consulting across the country and would soon get back to the government.
