Freddie Ljungberg says Mesut Ozil is the Key to Arsenal Success
According to former Arsenal player and caretaker coach Freddie Ljungberg has said Mesut Ozil is one of the best players in the world at picking out a pass. He has named the player as Arsenal’s solution following their English Premier League winless run.
The player said Ozil is a specialist in breaking open defence and if he is in the midfield he will be able to send good through passes to Aubameyang to score.
Arsenal has suffered all sort of set-back due to lack of creativity in the midfield this season. They are currently in the 15th place position with 13 points after playing eleven games. 32-year-old Mesut Ozil has been left in the bench for a very long time in the Arsenal bench. The player was there when Mikel Arteta signed another 32-years-old player from Chelsea in the person of Willian.
The midfielder, who earns £350,000-per-week, has not featured the club since March 7. Gunners legend Freddie Ljungberg has revealed what Arsenal are missing without Mesut Ozil in the team. The former Arsenal interim boss who left his coaching role at the club in August said: “When you have possession or need to find that pass, I don’t think there’s many better players than Mesut at doing that.”
He also said: “Of course, you lose a bit defensively, but that’s the decision they have made.” “I don’t know why the decision has been made that he is outside of the squad, so they can’t use him.”
“But for those things, I don’t see there’s many better players in the world.” Only two players in the league have created more chances per game from open play than Mesut Ozil since 2015. Only Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard have made more chances per game.
However, former Liverpool payer Carragher does not think Ozil is the answer to Arteta’s problems. He said: “No, I don’t think the answer is bringing Ozil in.” Arsenal’s lack of creativity in the midfielder has left them struggling for goals this season. But Germany is obviously the most creative player in the Arsenal team.
