Youths from the Northern part of the country, under the auspices of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF, have made it clear that they will not be accepting a President that is anything more than 50 years old.
Arewa Youth set an age limit for the next President.
The President of the forum, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, has demanded that any Nigerian who is above the age of 50, seeking to become President of the country in 2023 to discard the idea wholly and immediately.
He noted that the aged ones had failed the country terribly since they took hold of power from the founding fathers and had brought nothing but untold suffering to the country’s people.
Shettima also complained bitterly about why the older generation has still refused to relinquish power to the younger ones even though their failings are very obvious.

According to President of the Arewa Youth forum, the older ones are supposed to support the younger ones in leadership and set them on the right track while also providing guidance. This, according to him, would be the way forward for the country.
On the country’s insecurity, he observed that it would not be suitable for someone to preempt the new Service Chiefs’ impact. He said, “We should look at the source of the problem before looking at the solution. To change the service Chiefs is not enough to solve the security challenges in the country.”
He called for a complete overhauling of the entire security network in the country and that communities should be collaborated to yield positive results.
