Akintomi Ojetunde Bags Continental Awards
At a time like this in the history of Nigeria when integrity, honesty and meritorious reward of good deeds are difficult to come by, it’s imperative to give accolades to those doing everything humanly possible to better our world and be crowned as one of the noblemen and women in their chosen fields and the society at large.
Undoubtedly, the Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Body Mechanics, Physiotherapy and Wellness Centre in Abuja and Executive Producer of THE PHYSIOS TV show, Akintomi Mayowa Ojetunde, has proven himself a noble Nigerian and a professional physiotherapist, thereby, allowing him to bag the PAN-Africa Exemplary Leadership Honour, titled The Kwame Nkrumah Medal of Honour and Leadership Award.
The West Africa Students Union Parliament (WASUP) qualified Akintomi as the 21st recipient, of the award, in recognition of his admirable, outstanding and ingenious strives over the years. The Union said the honour bestowed on Akintomi appreciates his qualities, including distinct charisma, courage, his seasoned intellectual and passion for continental renaissance, nobility in championing effective service delivery, and for being a patriotic Nigerian.
According to the Student Union Parliament, Akintomi distinguished himself as a passionate philanthropist, a pilot of significant advances and innovative ideas whose name has become a reference statement of competence and resourcefulness.
The Parliament further described Akintomi as a consummate scholar, erudite and visionary physiotherapist of great repute, a seasoned administrator, a strategic planner, a corporate leader, a renowned entrepreneur and a Spartan advocate for a modern Nigeria.
ABOUT AKINTOMI OJETUNDE
Akintomi Mayowa Ojetunde was born on the 6th of May, 1974, to Olufunke and Omolabi Ojetunde in Ibadan, Oyo state. Akintomi attended the Unity School, Federal Government College, Okigwe, Imo State. He is an alumnus of the University of Lagos (College of Medicine), where he studied Physiotherapy. Akintomi has taken several postgraduate certified courses at several schools across the globe which include The Mackenzie Institute of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy, New Zealand, Harvard Medical school, (Institute of Life-Style Medicine), Boston, United States of America among many others.
AKINTOMI OJETUNDE ‘S ACHIEVEMENTS AS A PHYSIOTHERAPIST
Akintomi, who was the first Physiotherapy intern at the state House Hospital, Aso Rock, Abuja, reportedly facilitated the hospital’s accreditation with the appropriate authorities for the internship program, which has paved the way for many other physiotherapy interns till date.
A deep look into his records in his chosen field shows that Akintomi has achieved many feats that could make one conclude that the cap of honour bestowed on him fits him well. Having returned from North London where he practised his chosen career, he set up a National award-winning and ideal physiotherapy clinical service centre in Abuja to benefit the residents of the FCT, its environs, other states in Nigeria and Africa in general.
Akintomi is a founding member of physiotherapists in Private practice in Nigeria. He served as a secretary and serves currently as chairman of the association. His professionalism and leadership skills also earned him the Chairmanship position of the Alumni, Physiotherapy of College of Medicine, University of Lagos.
An astute ergonomist who has practised and presented papers over the year which earned him fellowship awards in the society of Nigeria.
He served as the Vice-President of the Healthcare Providers Association of Nigeria (HCPAN); the grand patron of the Nigeria Association of Physiotherapy Students, (NAPS), among many other areas where he had carved a niche for himself as an outstanding leader with desirable leadership qualities.
According to the organizers of the leadership honour, the group strongly recommend that other Nigerians should emulate Akintomi. His diligence, high commitment to service and patriotism earned the distinguished Personality Honour bestowed upon him by the West African Students Union Parliament (WASUP).
