AC Milan Legend and former defensive midfielder who is the current coach of Italian Seria A side Napoli Gennaro Gattuso has lost his sister Francesca who tragically passed away at the age of 37. Milan discloses the sad news of the death of Francesca, who worked as a secretary for the club, in a Tweet on Tuesday.
The AC Milan Legend’s sister has been in intensive care since February after falling ill and reportedly requiring ‘urgent surgery.’ According to the Rossoneri in their Twitter handle said: “Francesca Gattuso faced her illness with the same strength and energy she brought to Milanello and AC Milan every day.” It also wrote: “Rino, the immense pain you and your family are feeling is also ours. Rest in peace, dear Francesca.”
Francesca was rushed to a hospital in Busto Arsizio, 20 miles west of Milan in northern Italy. Gattuso raced to be by his sister’s side, missing the post-match press-conference when Napoli beat Sampdoria in early February. He learned the news while taking Napoli’s training session at Castel Volturno, ahead of the Serie A season restart later this month.
The AC Milan legend has been receiving condolence messages from both AC Milan and his present club Napoli, also, players and friends of the former player are also sending their condolence messages via social media. The Italian Seria A is set to resume as Spanish La Liga has given June 11th for their resumption with Sivella hosting Real Betis in the first game.
