English Premier League side Wolves have appointed a new manager. They appointed former Benfica manager Bruno Lage as their new head coach. The manager was previously assisting former Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal and before managing Benfica.
Wolves Appoint Bruno Lage as New Manager
Bruno Lage won the Portuguese title in 2019 with Benfica. The 45-year-old succeeds fellow Portuguese Nuno Espirito Santo, who departed the club at the end of the 2020/21 season. According to Lage said: “I’m happy, excited, with a big ambition to do great things for this club.”
He also said: “I’m very happy. It’s a big opportunity. I’m very happy because I’ve returned to this country and to be the manager of a big team.” “I want to create a good dynamic with all the departments of the club. I have tried to link all together to start to build up the new cycle.”
The manager concluded his statement by saying It’s a good opportunity for him to understand what his fellow countryman Nuno [Espirito Santo] did when he was with Wolves. The former Swansea manager has been out of work since leaving Benfica last June after 18 months in charge. He took over the Lisbon club at the start of January 2019, and they ended the season as champions. He was not able to replicate the same result in the next season.
