Nigeria and Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho have lamented the club’s failure to qualify for the Uefa Champions League. The player who thanked Leicester City fans recently for helping him win the club’s Goal of the Season award said they did their best, but it was not enough to see them through to the tournament.
Kelechi Iheanacho Misses Out on Uefa Champions League
Leicester City was the club that stayed the most in the top-four position but could not make the top-four finish. They stayed a total of 242 days in the top-four position but ended in fifth place at the tail end of the league.
Kelechi Iheanacho took to his Twitter account and wrote: Disappointed to miss out on UCL qualification, we gave it all until the last moment. I’m proud of my team; winning the FA Cup was a dream for us. We’ll use this as motivation to be back next season! Thanks to the fans for your support this season. Have a great Summer everyone
This is not the first time the club is facing such a predicament, and the first was the 2019/20 season when they dropped from the Uefa Champions League position in the last game of the season against Manchester United. This seasons’ own was their 5-2 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the last game of the season, which made Chelsea, who lost to Aston Villa, qualified.
