Chelsea striker Timo Werner has finally admitted he is responsible for the sack of Frank Lampard from Chelsea. According to the German international, he said it is because of his goal-scoring drought that led to the sack of the manager.
Timo Werner Takes Responsibility for Lampard Sack
According to him, he said it was the worst of his career. The player coast Chelsea £47.5million. He has not played up to expectations as he has played 14 Premier League matches without a goal between November 7 and February 15.
During that time, Chelsea suffered five defeats in eight games which made the club sack the manager. Timo Werner said: “The period where I didn’t score was the worst time of my career because I’d never missed so many big chances.”
Timo Werner said this ahead of thier home clash with second place Manchester United. He also said: “I’d never been so long without a goal, so I was very happy it ended two games ago.”
He also said if he had sored four or five more goals maybe Lampard will still have his job but for now he is focused on the future and he wish not to look behind him any more.
