Mick McCarthy and his Assistant Sacked as Apoel Manager
Former Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy has quit his role as the manager of Cypriot champions Apoel just two months after being appointed.
61-years-old Mick McCarthy was made the head coach alongside his former Wolverhampton Wanderers assistant Terry Connor. He was given the job back in November just a few days to make it two whole months.
During his spell, he won two of the eight league fixtures he took charge of at the club and Apoel have lost their last four games, leaving them 11th in the table.
The club said it has ended “its cooperation” with McCarthy. “We wish Mr McCarthy and his assistant Terry Connor good luck,” Apoel said in a statement. Apoel has now had 13 permanent coaches since 2015. Apoel will need a good coach who can oversee them in the Europa League where they are now.
