Toni Freixa Says no to Neymar Jnr Move
Barcelona presidential candidate Toni Freixa has openly said if he becomes president he will not push for the buy of Brazilian star player Neymar Jnr. According to reports Toni Freixa says he does not believe in the ability of Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar.
Neymar has been linked with a possible return to the club since his departure way-back in 2017. According to statements released recently, it says that Barcelona is currently planning on bringing the player back to Camp Nou and also plans on appointing a number of people to oversee the club and someone to replace Josep Maria Bartomeu following his resignation from the office of the presidency.
However, despite Neymar’s standing at Barcelona, Toni Freixa who is one the persons standing to take the presidential seat claimes that he has no intention of trying to secure a reunion with the 28-year-old. Speaking to Cadena SER, Freixa said: “Neymar, because of his performance, is not even among the 30 best players in Europe right now. If I were president, I would not sign him.”
“The most important thing about Barcelona is Barcelona itself. We do not depend on anyone.” PSG are currently attempting to extend Neymar’s contract past the end of the 2021-22 season.
