Kostas Tsimikas Completes Liverpool Move
Greece and Olympiakos left-back Kostas Tsimikas have signed for the English Premier League champions Liverpool, the player is signed for £11.7m and he is the first player to sign for the 209/20 English Premier League champions. The 24-year-old has joined the Premier League champions for about £11.7m on a five-year contract and is expected to provide competition for Andy Robertson.
According to the 24-year-old, he said: “I’m very happy, I’m very proud to be here,” “It’s an honour to be here and I will give my best. For me, [it’s] the biggest club in the world.” Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said: “We have watched Kostas for a long time and are really happy that he has joined us. It’s the perfect news before we come back together very soon.
“He is a very good footballer with an attitude to win and to compete, and I really like his mentality. It fits perfectly with the mood and the desire we have in our dressing room already. “Kostas knows from personal experience what is required to challenge and succeed domestically and in the Champions League, and he is ambitious for more – just like us.”
Tsimikas has been a Liverpool fan right from when he was small, his brother made him supported the English side, The Reds signed the player after they failed to sign Norwich defender Jamal Lewis.
Tsimikas has made three caps for his country Greece, and he made his debut for Olympiakos in 2015 and went on to make 86 appearances in all competitions. The player played 27 times in the league last season, securing his first major silverware as Olympiakos won the Greek title.
