Super Eagles Defender’s Udinese Stopped Juve from Lifting the League title
Udinese and Super Eagles defender William Troost- Ekong put up a fine performance as Udinese recorded a shock 2-1 home win against champions Juventus at the Dacia Arena on Matchday 35. The Super Eagles defender’s side did well to hold Cristiano Ronaldo and his Juventus teammate from winning the ninth consecutive Italian Seria A title.
Troost-Ekong featured in the full 90 minute of the game, the centre-back, who was booked in the 20th minute has featured in 29 league games for Udinese this season. Netherlands defender Matthis de Ligt opened scoring for Juventus three minutes before the break. Ilija Nestorovski equalised for the hosts in the 52nd minute, while Seko Fofana netted the winning goal for Udinese deep into stoppage time.
The win for the Super Eagles defender’s side boosted Luca Goti’s side’s hopes of escaping the relegation zone. The Little Zebras as they are called now occupies the 15th place position on the table with 39 points from 35 games.
