Former Nigerian and Chinese Shanghai Shenhua Lloanee Odion Ighalo could extend his contract by at least one more year with Manchester United after his loan deal was cut short by the coronavirus pandemic. He is however still unable to reach a reasonable agreement with Manchester United for the extension of the loan deal.
The 30-year-old attacker arrived the Old Trafford club on the deadline day during the transfer window on a six-month loan deal which was to expire to expire on the 31st of May 2020. According to News reports, Manchester United United have reached an agreement with the Chinese Super League club, and now the Nigerian is poised to return to the Asian country.
Odion Ighalo scored four goals for Manchester United in eight appearances to shun critics who earlier claimed he was not the right man for the club. Some Manchester United legends are still speaking so they can extend the player’s loan deal, Odion Ighalo earlier made a personal appeal to the management of the Chinese club to allow him to remain with the English club for a further six months. He was spotted smiling as he arrived at Manchester United training complex on Friday morning, May 29, amidst talks about his loan extension.
Reports claim Shanghai Shenhua lowered their expectations for the former Super Eagles star as they were considering allowing the forward stay beyond his temporary stay. Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not hidden the fact that he wants the 2019 AFCON golden boot winner to remain at the club until the season ends. The Premier League outfit has now agreed a loan extension for the player he will spend the rest of the season with the club.
Odion Ighalo has been training at the Carrington training complex along with his teammates as they prepare for the return of EPL scheduled for the 17th of next month.
