Delta State which is nicknamed is a place to visit. As the nickname implies, it is truly the nation’s big heart as it is one of the largest petroleum products in Nigeria. Delta state is a land flowing with milk and honey; there are various solid minerals deposit in the state, there is a presence of crude oil, and fertile land for farming. The indigenes of Warri live by the creed said in Pidgin English; ‘Warri no dey carry last’. This shows the hustling and bubbling spirit in the area. TRANSPORTATION
You could get to Delta state through the road. The Benin and Bayelsa expressways link up with the state. You can as well get to the state through the waterways as it is a coastal area. If you are taking the air route, the Asaba Airport is your destination. From there, you could access any part of the oil rich city.
PLACES TO VISIT
The River Ethiope is a site of tourist attraction. It is reputed to be the deepest inland waterways in Africa (at 176km). It has its source at the foot of a giant silk-cotton tree at Umuaja in Ukwuani Local Government Area of the state. It is a place of worship for Olokun traditional religion and also a common site for faithful of the Igbe Religion Movement.
Another religious site of attraction is the Araya Bible site which houses a copy of the Holy Bible. It is believed that the bible descended to this spot miraculously from heaven around August, 1914. The bible was said to drop on rain-soaked yam and it didn’t get wet. The site now attracts thousands of Christians yearly.
There is also the Niger Bridge in the state which connects Delta State to the Eastern part of Nigeria. It is a masterpiece of architectural design. It was completed in 1965 and cost 5 million pounds. It was damaged during the civil war but was later repaired.
