The English Premier League (EPL) was obstructed by the rapid spread of coronavirus but some teams looks ready to get back to action even before the resumption date which is 4th of April. With the current trend of coronavirus which has spoilt the fun of weekend football in the English Premier League (EPL).
Football lovers, are curious and asking when will the various clubs resume training and how many matches are left to be played in the league. In this article we will take you to all the clubs in the English Premier League who have resumed training and this that that are still observing the self-isolation.
EPL Teams that are set to resume the League
Arsenal
Arsenal is set to return to training on the 24th of this month, which will complete the 14 days after the players made contact with Arteta. Mikel Arteta who is the head coach of the Gunnars team was said to test positive to coronavirus after making contact with infected Olympiacos owner. The Spaniard is still receiving treatment and he is currently responding fine.
Aston Villa
Aston Villa shut down their training ground for the rest of the week, although they trained on Monday this week. The players have now been sent home and are given individual training programmes to work with at home.
Bournemouth
Bournemouth are off and training at home until next Monday, March 23. The Cherries are also among a number of clubs to close their stadium and keep staff at home in line with government guidelines.
Brighton
Brighton have given their players a break from training. They will be on Friday to continue their training and also have a review of their schedules.
Burnley
Manager of the month for February in the EPL, Sean Dyche had his team trained on Tuesday but new chief executive Neil Hart said: “We will do what’s right for the well-being of our supporters, staff and everyone involved with the club.” So they have sent their players home pending when they call off the suspension.
Chelsea
Chelsea players are self-isolating after Callum Hudson Odoi tested positive for the virus last Thursday. Mason Mount who went ahead to train with people in public has rightfully come out to apologised for his misconduct. The squad has not yet been given the date of resumption to training as at when this report was given.
Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace closed their Beckenham training ground on Monday and have given the players the week off with the intention to review their situation after everything. The club has no case of the virus in their sqaud but they are not willing to take chances.
Everton
Everton’s training ground has been closed as a precaution. Staff, including players, have been advised to stay away from all club sites until further notice.
Leicester
The Leicester team has been given a few days off. Their return date is yet to be confirmed. Several players were self-isolating last week, according to Brendan Rodgers, ahead of the weekend’s fixtures, which were cancelled.
Liverpool
Liverpool who is eyeing the EPL for the first time after 30 years have their players all staying at home with individual training programs. Also the Hillsborough memorial service which was to take place next month at Anfield has been postponed.
Manchester City
Manchester City are not releasing any information on their plans at the moment.
Manchester United
Manchester United have canceled first-team training in line with government advice. Meanwhile, in the mean time United have extend Nemanja Matic’s contract by another year.
Newcastle United
Newcastle United who statrted the no handshakes in the EPL and ordered their players not to sign autographs sent their players home until March 30th. They are not ready top joke with lives of their players and fans as reported by a fan of the club.
Norwich
Norwich players have been told to stay away from the club’s training ground. They have all been given individual training plans. All the players are to train individually in their verious homes.
Sheffield United
Sheffield United are back in training. They returned on Monday. But their academy team still remain closed until 30th of this month. they suspended the academy games indefinitely and also all non-essential business, which includes player appearances, training ground visits and fan meetings.
Southampton
Southampton players trained on Monday but they have now been told to stay away from their training ground. Club staff has also been told to work from home.
Tottenham
Tottenham are training this week but on weekdays only. Heung-Min Son remains in injury and observing self-isolating for two weeks after returning from an operation on his arm in South Korea at the end of February.
Watford
Watford players are not training at the moment and they are not expected to report back until Friday, although that will be reviewed.
West Ham
West Ham are likely to return to training next Monday but there is, as yet, no official confirmation of that. Their manager David Moyes tested nagative after making contact with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta who has the coronavirus.
Wolves
Wolves players have been told to stay at home until Thursday at the earliest. Molineux has been closed and club staff are working from home.
