Nigerian ex-international Manchester United January signing Odion Ighalo proved his worth yet again in the FA Cup as he banged in a brace for his side. The January signing which was a shocker to everyone except the coach has shown he is still capable of taking his dream team to greater heights. So far Odion Ighalo has scored three goals in his last five matches for the United side.
Former Manchester United player Wayne Rooney had his name chanted all through the game until the first goal came from United left-back Luke Shaw. Luke Shaw had the first goal in the 31st minute of the game to put the visitors in front. Nigerian Odion Ighalo doubled the lead in the 41 minute of the game as they matched to the half time break with two goals leag.
Wayne Rooney received thousands of praises from the United fans as they chanted songs in his name, he had a couple of chances with two of his free kicks almost meeting the target. Rooney scored 253 goals for Manchester United before leaving in 2017 and he is yet to score against them throughout his career.
Odion Ighalo found the net again in the 70th minute of the game to complete his brace for the team. Ighalo who was signed to fill in the space of injured Marcus Rashford is really doing well to making chance given to him count.
After the game he was asked how he feels about scoring he said: “as long as my team-mates believe in me, the boss believes in me and the fans believe in me, I just have to keep going.” “I don’t care what anyone says. We want to keep the momentum going and make sure we do great this season.” He added.
Manchester United has been unbeaten since the arrival of Bruno Fernandez and Odion Ighalo. Yesterday’s game makes it nine games without a loss, they have so far won all seven and drew two out of the nine games played. Manchester United have won the FA Cup 12 times just one behind Arsenal’s record haul.
