Chelsea and Spain shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga has told head coach Thomas Tuchel that he wants to remain in the club. The goalkeeper is saying this amidst interest from Ligue 1 top side Nice. Kepa said he want to fight for his spot in the team. He is not willing to leave the club as he hopes to play more next season.
Kepa Arrizabalaga Wants to Fight for his Spot in Chelsea
Kepa Arrizabalaga is linked with a move away from Chelsea to join Ligue 1 side Nice. He however not happy with the playing time he has received under manager Tuchel so far. The 27-year-old was Chelsea’s first choice for two seasons after joining them from Athletic Bilbao.
He made a series of errors and struggles with a form that led to him being replaced. He was replaced by Edouard Mendy in the 2020-21 campaign.
The Spanish international only made 14 appearances for Chelsea two seasons ago and 15 in the campaign that just passed. Speaking with media Kepa said: “I’m excited, ambitious, eager to start, to enjoy myself and, above all, to play more. I want to be on the pitch for more games.”
He also said: “In the end, the coach is the one who decides. You have to give him as many reasons as possible to choose you. I like to train, do my best in every session, take care of myself and be ready when the coach asks me.”
“Right now, I’m a Chelsea player. But what is clear to me is that I want to play more because I have come from a year or two where. When I have played, I have had great performances.”
