Alex Iwobi Back to the Starting Lineup
Nigerian and former Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi were in top form in their 5-2 demolition of Fleetwood Town in the 3rd Round of the Carabao Cup. The Nigerian international made his first appearance for the Toffees in their similar scoreline against West Brom in the Premier League over the weekend which ended 5-2 after missing the win against Tottenham which they won 1-0. The 23-year-old was in starting line up in the seven-goal thriller at the Highbury Stadium.
Last season’s player of the year at Goodison Park Racharlison put the visitors ahead courtesy of an assist from his fellow countryman Bernard. Everton’s second goal was more delightful to watch after a brilliant team play involving the Nigerian Alex Iwobi who delivered a lovely ball-heel pass to Richarlison to score his brace for the day. Three minutes into the second half Fleetwood got themselves back into the game as Mark Duffy made the score 2-1.
But the Premier League side restored the two-goal cushion asAlex Iwobi tucked home Anthony Gordon’s cross to make it 3-1. The League One club were rewarded for their persistence as Callum Camps made it 3-2 before the half hour mark. The goals kept coming for the Premeir League side as two more goals were added to the scores just when the League One side thought they were coming back into the game.
