Joshua Zirkzee will be hard to Convince Super Eagles Coach Admits
Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has described Bayern Munich’s youngster Joshua Zirkzee as a fantastic talent but he also admits it will be difficult to convince the young striker to dump the Netherlands for the three-time African champions Nigeria. 19-year-old Joshua Zirkzee is born in the Netherlands to Nigerian parents as such has right to play either Nigeria or the Netherlands, he has however played for the Netherlands at the youth level, but that not withstanding he can still Nigeria.
Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has indicated an interest in the young player but he is not certain if the player will agree to play for Nigeria. According to him, he said: “There is also Zirkzee of Bayern Munich, he’s a fantastic talent also but he’s playing already for Holland and it’s not easy to have them.”
“They must give us the sign to come, we are here and we show them there is hope for them and if they want to play in the World Cup and AFCON with us they are welcome but they must decide.” he added. Joshua Zirkzee joined Bayern Munich from Feyenoord academy in his native Netherlands in 2017 and since then he has been doing well. Zirkzee has scored three goals in seven Bundesliga appearances this season.
With this impressive statistics Super Eagles head coach and the whole Super Eagles team will be very happy to have such a talent in the squad, the German technician has not yet spoken to the player but has already admitted challenge on convincing the player.
