In a new development, Mrs Ndubuisi Obiechina, a teacher who lost her pregnancy in SARS custody has been found to be related to the popular kidnapper, Evans.
Mrs Obiechina had told the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Enquiry on Restitution for Victims of Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Related Abuses and Matters that she lost a two month old pregnancy due to maltreatment from members of the police unit.
On Tuesday, she told the panel that popular billionaire kidnapper Chukwudumeme Onwamadike is her brother. She also said she never knew that he was popularly known as Evans.
A police lawyer from Force Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Nosa Uhumwangho questioned Mrs Obiechina about whether she was related to Onwamadike, she said yes, saying that he is her brother.
Uhumwangho told the panel that Evans was apprehended because of his sister, Mrs Obiechina.
According to the police lawyer, three phone numbers were used to collect ransom from one of Evans’s abductees, Francis Umeh, and tracing these numbers led to the arrest of Mrs Ndubuisi Obiechina and her husband, Mr Okechukwu Obiechina.
Mrs Obiechina said she did not know about the collection of the ransom and that she was not released after the arrest of Evans.
