Rivers state police officer has been accused by a widow for detaining and raping her for violating COVID-19 protocols.
A widow residing in Rivers state, who has instead on being anonymous has on Wednesday accused a police office named Peter Ebah of detaining and raping her in a guest house.
According to the victim, officer Ebah who is attached to the Sakpenwa Police Division ,Tai LGA, Rivers state took her away from the bus she boarded going to Port Harcourt at around 6:30 on Tuesday and detained her at the check point for hours. After holding her at the checkpoint , he pretended to take her to the station in the police van but they wound up in the guest house where he allegedly raped her.
The widow said she had to succumb to the demands of the officer for fear of being harmed because he threatened to kill her if she misbehaved.
She also alleged that the accused officer held her in the guest house till the next morning(Wednesday) and sent her money.
She said,
“In the morning, he asked me to give him my account number so that he would transfer N2,000 into it. I played along and gave him the account number because I didn’t know what he would do to me if I refused.”
Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, the Rivers state Police Public Relations Officer, said the matter is under investigation and justice would be served if the accused was found guilty.
