The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has come out to clear the air on why some 2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results were withheld.
On Monday, 8th August, the examination council released the 2022 WASSCE results and withheld the results of 365,564 candidates in connection with various reported cases of examination malpractice.
In a recent interview on Thursday, the head of the WAEC national office, Mr Patrick Areghan, stated some sections of the media are accusing the council of wrongdoings.
He revealed that any candidate that has his or her result withheld is a result of alleged examination malpractice.
“After necessary investigations of all alleged examination malpractice cases, innocent candidates would have their results released, while the guilty ones will have that subject or entire results cancelled,” Areghan added.
He also noted that the council have evidence to back up their actions, and anyone who feels hard done should approach the court.
