Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen, has stated that he can equal Rashidi Yekini’s Super Eagles record.
The Super Eagles of is set to trade tackles with Leone stars of Sierra Leone on Friday, November 13, 2020. During the team’s press conference ahead of the match, Victor Osimhen has stated that his eyes is on Yekini’s record.
Rashidi Yekini is Nigeria’s all-time highest goalscorer with 37 goals in 58 appearances.
Victor Osimhen, who is Super Eagles latest hitman has joined the Super Eagles following delay in getting to Nigeria from Italy. He is now set to feature again after missing out in the last two matches (Algeria & Tunisia).
Osimhen has been likened to Yekini due to his abilities in front of goal as well as his height. The Napoli forward has now stated that his eyes is on Yekini’s goal record with the national team.
In his words, “To fill in for Yekini’s shoes is heavy but of course I’m in the right path. If I’m injury-free, I can achieve it“.
Victor Osimhen has scored 4 goals in 9 appearances for the Nigerian national team. The Edo-State born forward won the golden boot as well as silver ball at the FIFA U-17 world cup in Chile, 2015.
