Few hours after Seyitan Babatayo explained how Nigerian singer Oladapo Oyebanjo, popularly known as Dbanj tried to silence her, the United Nations, UN has said that the singer is not its ambassador.
There have been claims that the singer is a United Nations Youth Ambassador for Peace, but the Director of Information, United Nations Information Centre for Nigeria, Joseph Kayanja has cleared the air over the claim.
According to The PUNCH, the Director responded to a mail sent to him to inquire about the true state of things as regards Dbanj amid calls on the UN to drop him as its ambassador.
In his response, Kayanja confirmed that Dbanj is not a UN ambassador adding that the title was accorded him by an obscure UN youth association which has nothing to do with the United Nations.
UN Denies Appointing Dbanj As Ambassador

You will recall that there were claims that the musician was the first Nigerian to be appointed as a UN Youth Ambassador for Peace in 2012.
Meanwhile, many people have signed an online petition calling on the UN to strip the musician of the title given the rape allegations levelled against him by Seyitan.
It was gathered that the petition has been signed by over 22,000 people on Change.org as of Wednesday, June 24, 2020.
Also, there was news making the rounds that Heritage Bank had suspended the singer as its ambassador a few days after the deal was announced during his 40th birthday.
