Adeboye and Tithing
General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has again cleared the controversies hanging over the issue of tithing for a very long time. The issue of paying ten percent of one’s income to the church as a Christian has caused a lot of uproars both in the religious and circular circles and it has continued to grow.
According to Adeboye giving tithe means you are doing business with God and when you do that your life will never be the same. He said, “if you do business with God every time you sleep He will show you how to do business.”
Adeboye gave this admonition in the continuation of a Sunday service series titled “From lockdown to Leaping up.” According to him, the taking off of an airplane is not as difficult as the landing processes. He said this is one of the most important things to consider while praying for a breakthrough in life.
He however gave another warning about inviting God into one’s business. “When you invite God into your business, He will not be your junior partner, He will be a senior partner.” With this point, he stressed that thesis another way of turning one’s life and business around.
He gave an instance of a man who was jobless and cried to God to help him, because he pays tithe and God told him to start frying peanuts but ensure to add honey into it. Adeboye said the jobless man started as instructed by God and is now bigger than anyone could imagine. He added that the man’s peanut was served at one of the American President’s inauguration ceremony and the man also has two private jets the last time he checked.
He also set an instance of a man who said he made God a senior partner in his business by giving God 90 percent of his income and the amount of wealth he now controls doesn’t look like the business he started with just $500.
While saying these he advised those who might be annoyed by the stand on tithing to remember that he was not talking to them, but his children. Adeboye said he is not moved when people talk about his wealth because they are only seeing his glory and do not know anything about his story.
Pastor Adeboye also lamented that the worse thing that can happen to a man is to make it before he is ready. He gave several instances from the bible. One of his examples was a 17 years old king in the Bible who later became a leper because he misused the throne.
The other example is Ephram his prosperity entered his head, it became his idol and God said he shall be desolate. He ended the sermon by praying for his children that God will take them to higher grounds as the invite God into their lives as their business partners.
