Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a Presidential Aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, APC, has suddenly changed his statement on being the major reason for bringing in President Muhammadu Buhari during the 2015 General Elections.
His exact statement in Abeokuta, Ogun State: “If not me that led the war front, Buhari wouldn’t have emerged. He contested first, second and third time, but lost. He even said on television that he won’t contest again.”
He further noted that he had to visit the President in Katsina State to encourage him to partake in the next election again, assuring him of the support of the Yoruba people.
However, it was surprising when he suddenly changed his statement to say, through his Media Director, Tinubu Campaign Organisation, that his ‘speech in Abeokuta did not demonstrate any disrespect to Buhari, for whom he has very high regard, and whose re-election campaign he chaired in 2019.’
Onanuga released the second statement in an effort to regulate the possible damage the initial statement would’ve caused, stating his principal’s speech was not humiliating to the person of the President and blamed the opposition for giving it that slant.

Short of saying I am sorry, Tinubu said it was unthinkable that he would asperse the leader of the party he is aspiring to be the next flag bearer, adding that “It makes no sense at all to do such an indelicate, unseemly thing,”
He blamed unnamed opponents who want the President to oppose his aspiration in Monday’s primary election for the “misrepresentation” but expressed the hope that the President, an experienced and accomplished leader, will not be taken in by the tricks of such people.
