Thanos and Google’s Avengers:Endgame surprise

In synchrony with the release of Avengers: Endgame, Google (and Thanos) have a special Easter egg for fans of the franchise.

I’ll advice that you do it with the sound on. It’s more exciting that way.

Search the term ‘Thanos’ on Google and click on the Infinity Gauntlet icon the right. The icon will animate into Thanos’ infamous finger-snap that wiped out half the universe’s population in the previous Avengers: Infinity War film.

Fortunately for fans, the finger-snap on the Google browser will only eliminate half of the search results. So sit back and watch the results disappear into dust.

Click on the Infinity Gauntlet icon again and watch the results come back.

Some people have already shared videos online on what it’s like to see the Thanos Easter Egg in action.

This is part of promotion for the movie, which premiered earlier this week. Here’s a tiny review with no spoilers.

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

Avengers: Endgame strikes emotional chords more frequently than superhero movies usually do. It is almost as if the passing away of the universe that this remarkable franchise has created and sustained over the past decade is leaving behind a massive void. Mercifully, we know that in endings lie many beginnings. If this is how magnificently one cycle has ended, there is every reason to hope that the ones that are in the works will be worth the wait.
