Armed bandits have attacked some communities in Safana, Danmusa and Dutsinma Local Government Areas of Katsina State in early morning of Saturday. The armed bandits have killed 47 persons, injured numerous others and destroyed properties worth millions of Naira.

Reports had it that the attackers had gone to the former council chairman’s abode in his village, Kaikai, in Ganye LGA of Adamawa State, and murdered him for reason that remains unknown.
Adamu Mohammed Duguri, elder brother of the Bauchi state Governor Bala Mohammed has been reportedly kidnapped this evening.
“We have since deployed Special Technical Squad and Armed Anti-Kidnapping Squad to identify areas with a view to rescuing the victims unhurt,” he said.
“They continued to shoot people, setting fire on the dead and on property. It was extremely horrific!’
The 47-year-old Dagan was killed in her apartment in Galadimawa, Abuja, on Monday evening shortly after she returned from work.
According to the CP, the DPO in the area had already mobilised some officers and men who are on the trail of the fleeing abductors and their victims.
Police spokesperson Sewuese Anene, a DSP confirmed the incident and said police have launched an investigation into the incident.
“Two persons died,” Bulama Talba, a Borno government spokesman said in a statement, after visiting the Biu general hospital where casualties were being treated on Tuesday.
“The gunmen opened fire on the soldiers and the soldiers replied. It was a heavy shootout. The Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) positioned in from of the house, made a u-turn blaring siren to join his men behind the house. The soldiers while engaging the gunmen at the back of the house were not aware some gunmen were coming into the house on land. Those gunmen on foot shot dead a soldier and shot another in the leg. The gunmen, escaped after sighting the APC moving to reinforce the soldiers. The gunmen abandoned a boat filled with blood. The gunmen suffered heavy causalities because at the jetty blood was everywhere and some watching from inside the house saw the gunmen moving some bodies of their colleagues into another boat.”
The police confirmed the abduction took place at about 10:30pm on Sunday at the Commissioners’ quarter in Opolo axis of Yenagoa, the state capital.
“This is the fourth time these criminals are attacking Dutsin-Ma in less than a month. First they collected N6 million from Dan Bello, a business man residing near Dutsin-Ma market,” the source said, asking not to be name for security reasons.
“We heard shots around 1:00 am and all of us ran in different directions. I ran to a nearby bush and hid until they left before I came out. It was this morning that we discovered that they left with the nine year old girl and the son of the woman who was abandoned but was able to find her way back to Juji this morning.”
No group has asserted responsibility for the attack yet, but fighters linked to the Islamic State and al-Qaeda routinely ambush soldiers and civilians in a campaign to sow division, gain recruits and seize territory.
They were said to have shot sporadically in the air before whisking away the chief. Two children of the traditional ruler were reportedly injured in the attack.
An eye witness from the area said the assailants who were in a vehicle shot the policemen as soon as they arrived the check point but the driver of the Police vehicle survived the attack as he ran into the bush.
“He said that some boys have planned to assassinate me; that their plan was to put a barricade on the road so that I will be compelled to stop for them. And so, we moved and I locked up my jeep from the inside.
