Deyemi Okanlawon, a Nollywood Actor who took to his social media handle to address Reno Omokri, a lawyer/activist on Twitter, regarding the post he made about the Super Eagles Interim Coach, Austin Eguavoen.
In the tweet earlier, Omokri harmlessly described Eguavoen as a ‘Local Coach’ in a bid to buttress the point that foreign coaches earn more salary than the home-based ones.
However, the actor, Okanlawon posted that Reno is a Nigerian who does not understand utilising the word ‘Local’ in his expressions.
Deyemi Okanlawon’s Words
Okanlawon said, ‘You’re Nigerian enough to know ‘LOCAL’ is an insult.’
Meanwhile, the initial tweet that brought this reaction is: ‘Dear Buhari, you see how the local coach, Austine Eguavoen, is doing better than the multimillion-dollar foreign coach, Gernot Rohr? Maybe our local doctors would prove to be better than your multimillion UK doctors if you give them a chance.’
On realising that the actor’s response was now trending, Reno was quick to jump on his Twitter page and said, “I don’t know who this fellow is that is angry I praised Eguavoen as a local coach who does better than foreign coaches. I did not grow up in a ghetto. I grew up in the US and Nigeria.
“There is a ‘local’ proverb, ‘don’t drink Panadol for another man’s headache.” He added.
