Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin has stated that doctors do not need police reports to treat gunshot victims.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police expressed his shock at discovering that some doctors still request reports from police to treat victims of a gunshot.
In a tweet posted on his official page on Tuesday, SP Hundeyin noted that doctors should follow medical ethics to save lives and can then notify the police after.
SP Hundeyin tweeted, “I am shocked to learn that a few doctors still request police reports before treating gunshot victims. Kindly provide immediate medical attention as stipulated by medical ethics. Then notify the police accordingly. One of our core mandates remains the protection of life.”
