Legendary American singer and songwriter, Dolly Parton, has stated the reason for not having a child as well as the key to her success.
Dolly Parton had been married to husband, Carl Dean since 1966 and are yet to become parents.
The multiple award-winning singer in an interview with Oprah Winfrey for Apple Music opened up about her life and career.
Dolly answered questions about making sacrifices for her career and gave not having a child as key to success in her career.
According to her, freedom to work as a result of not having kids and husband being independent played a huge role in her successful career.
In her words, “I didn’t have children because I believe that God didn’t mean for me to have kids so everybody’s kids could be mine, so I could do things like the [book gifting program] Imagination Library.
“‘If I hadn’t had the freedom to work I wouldn’t have done all the things I’ve done and I wouldn’t be in the position to do all the things I’m doing.”
Dolly also spoke about her husband who has been out of the limelight due to his person. According to the 74-year-old singer, she has been with Carl for 56 years and married for 54 years.
Parton is one of the most-honored female performer of all time. She has earned nine Grammy Awards (including her 2011 Lifetime Achievement Grammy) and a total of 49 Grammy Award nominations, the 2nd most nominations of any female artist in the history of the prestigious awards.
